Posted on Friday, May 9th, 2008 at 6:21 pmKnitters! Gauge question! I'm making a snuggy the pattern calls for bernat chunky yarn. I have lion brand?
chunky yarn. The Gauge call for 15 sts and 20 rows = 4inches. I'm using size 13 needles. I did the gauge and I came up w/ 8 sts and 9 rows = 4 inches. So instead of using 217 stitches should I use 109? Thank you
I am using Lion brand's Wool- Ease Thick & Quick, which calls for a size 13 needle.
by snuggy I mean a Snuggie one of those backward robes you see on TV. (sorry I misspelled it)

I did not ask you about socks, doubting ones abilities is rude. You went completely off topic, when really all you had to say was that you couldn't help me convert the pattern. So once again Thank You for taking the time out to answer my question.
The band on your lion brand should have a diagram showing the gauge achieved with a particular size needle.
If this is with 1 or 2 stitches per 4 inches you can adjust by using needles a size smaller or larger. However 8 to 15 stitches is too much to change.
By a snuggy do you mean a blanket or square of knitting. If so size doesn't really matter does it.
If you like the particular stitch then yes you could use your yarn and needles with 109 stitches. Knit till the blanket is long enough.
You will probably need a different amount of yarn to that stated on the pattern as it is so different to the intended yarn
