How to wash an Astrakhan style wool hat?

How can I wash and/or dry an Astrakhan style wool hat without ruining the wool or the hat, or without it shrinking or something like that?

Take it to a good dry cleaners. Don't necessarily get it dry cleaned, not everything can be dry cleaned, as they use some chemicals that can be harsh. But if they are a good cleaners and know their stuff, they should be able to tell you if they can clean it. It's probably best if you take it somewhere that's either so busy that they don't need to lie to get your business, or where you already take your clothes, so again, no need to lie to get your business.

That said, I find that most things that are delicate or even say "dry clean only" can be hand washed in cold water in a sink, with a very mild detergent, such as Woolite. You can allow such things to dry flat (don't hang on something to dry, that will stretch it). I can't say for certain that this is a good idea for your hat, but it's what I do for delicate wools, and it's the best advice I can give you.
