Tropical Turquoise
Posted on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 at 2:56 amNEED HELP tropical guppies dying!!!?
i have a tuxedo guppy and recently added a turquoise guppy into a 2 gallon tank. both males, the turquoise was kind of smaller. it seems that the turquoise guppys fin looked ragged the his whole body started turning black. I was wondering if the tuxedo guppy had anything to do with it or if its a disease and the tuxedo guppy is in danger of dying to?
i get them at petsmart and they say that i could have up to 2 of them in a two gallon tank...i had another fish in with the tuxedo and they were fine. then when the one died i cleaned out the tank...yeah its cycled i dont know how to test for the ammonium levels and what not, but the one fish is fine so i would have thought that poor water quality would affect them both
Hi,
Does the tank have a filter? I think the problem is due to poor water quality, unfortunately a 2 gallon tank is too small for any fish. Poor water quality causes stress which will lower the fishes immune system and lead to disease. I would recommend that you obtain a bigger tank with a filter. Also what are your water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and has your tank been cycled?
