I have a shirt that is 100% Rayon & the tag says "Dry Clean Only"...?

Yes, yes, I realize I should take it to be dry cleaned, but I really don't want to pay that much for cleaning my shirt (it's not designer or expensive or anything). I really just want it to be clean. My washing machine has a "Hand Washables" setting on it (cold water only, no spin cycle). Would I be okay using this setting and just a little detergent?

(P.S. I have other things that are 100% Rayon and the tags say "Hand Wash Only." I've put it through the "Hand Washables" cycle and they've done fine... why is this shirt different?)

Sounds like you don't want to have the shirt dry cleaned! You could try the Hand Washables cycle on your machine. Use cold water and a mild detergent. I would not dry the blouse in the dryer. Just gently smooth out the wrinkles with your hands and hang to dry. I know a lot of people wash rayon, but I guess it depends on the garment and the maker as to whether it will withstand washing or not. Good luck.
