Mill Joy

My friends have bought puppies from a pet store and they paid about $1,000 - 1,500 for their puppies.
But their puppies are in good shape and are bundles of joys. Is it because of the way they are bred? I thought that most pets that come from pet stores most probably come from puppy mills, meaning that their health could be at risk. But in my friends' cases, their puppies are perfectly fine and active.
Your friends puppies are fine right now because they are young. They are poorly bred and from puppy mills, meaning they are at a much greater risk for a variety of health and genetic issues later in life. Not to mention, by buying puppies from pet stores, you are financially supporting the inhumane treatment of the parent animals in mills.
The reason they price them so high is because they CAN. If people are willing to pay that much, then of course they are going to charge that much and make as much money as possible. "Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it."
*All* pet store puppies are from pet mills. Think of it this way, picture a responsible breeder. As a responsible breeder, they care about the health of their animals, and about the homes their animals go to. Now, why would that breeder EVER give their puppies to a pet store where anyone with a checkbook could buy them? The only people who provide animals to pet stores are those who are interested in money, not the health and future homes of their animals.
