I have run out of Yaz pills and found a full pack of Yasmin, can I use Yasmin as a replacement?

And if so should I use the entire pack of Yasmin then start again on a new set of Yaz or continue with Yasmin?

Listen closely -- and you will have no altered side effects.

Yaz has LESS inactive pills than Yasmin.

So since you have been using Yaz -- you will need 3 more ACTIVE pills to have the exact same operation as your Yaz set.

Let me explain:

Yaz is 24 Active pills (with the ingredients that work) and 4 inactive pills which just serve as place keepers so you keep track of your 'period days'. The 4 inactive pills contain no ingredients -- they are like sugar pills. So if you took NOTHING during the days you were supposed to take the 4 inactives.. it wold work identically. Again these 4 inactive in Yaz are to keep you from getting confused on a 4 week, 28 day cycle.

Now Yasmin is 21 Active pills, and 7 inactive.

So you found Yasmin -- so in order to keep things exact,.. you will need to find 3 more active pills yaz or Yasmin doesn't matter (as they are identical).

You could go with the Yasmin schedule and you would essentially have 3 more days of NO medicine instead of just 4 you would have 7 days of no BC.

This will change your period.. how drastically? Impossible to predict -- it could be very minor, or you could get a little irregular, and/or have some discomfort . Though typically using LESS is better than more. So if you just go with the Yasmin the full 28 days -- you stand a better chance than if you were going from typical Yasmin to yaz.

I'm trying not to make this confusing.

I would recommend using the Yasmin as replacements and removing the proper pills in your new Yaz prescription when you can get it. It doesn't need to be Monday, just sometime so you can match the days up properly.

If you are wondering why they do this?

Typically less active pills equals less side effects in women. So some people are prescribed Yasmin if they have trouble with other BC causing too many side effects. Make sense?

Anyhow.. your fine -- the active pills in your found Yasmin are IDENTICAL to the active Yaz pills.
