Felt Vega
Posted on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 5:08 amwould you feel comfortable buying a home in Las Vegas considering the water issues out West? ?
I like Las Vegas a lot. I am a first time buyer and want to move there.
But I worry about the city running out of water. Is this a rational worry?
My friend says if water was an issue investors wouldn't be spending
billions of dollars building new casinos.
Vegas is served by the Hoover dam, which holds back the Colorado River, which also supplies most of the water for the entire South West. Nevada gets first dibs on the water, along with Arizona.
Los Angeles, and San Diego also get most of their water from the Colorado River, and they will go dry long before Vegas.
