Cotton Double

What kind of fabric is used for tees?

eg. Hollister's, Kohl's, and Abercrombie's tees.
they are soft and 100% cotton. what kind of cotton do they use? double knit? or what?

I recently started designed clothes as a hobby and now want to bring them to life.

Please be specific. And, if possible list some stores/sites that have the fabric.

Most of those stores use jersey knit with some lycra added for stretch. French terry is another t shirt knit that's really smooth feeling. It can also be mixed with lycra for stretch.

The stores you mentioned use really lightweight cotton, too. Cotton comes in all types of thicknesses or weights. The current trend is to use really lightweight cotton so the shirt is thin and soft, like a vintage t.

You can find similar knits at fabric stores, including major chains. Go to your local fabric store and find some knits that feel right to you and experiment with them first. If you don't find something you like, buy larger sized shirts from the clearance racks of the stores you like and reconstruct them. You could get a lot of fabric out of a boy's t to make one of your creations.
