Crocheting with Wire Thick?

I have a model for this coverage which calls for Bernat Soft Boucle is thick and son is enough uneven. I'm supposed to use an 8mm hook, but I'll try to make a difference with a 6.5mm bc that was the largest I had. The points were really difficult to do and I do not see where I should put my hook to the stitches in the chain bc thread was so thick. Willingness to help hook more help to make more definite mesh and see what I'm supposed to do? Is there anything else I can do to make this easier?

The larger the hook over your stitches and will not make them easier to see.
