Wool Fingering

Posted in Yarn | No Comments »

My 2 months old baby keeps getting black or white wool like material in between his fingers, is this fungus?

I've been seen it from the beginning, I didn't pay much heed to it 'cos i thought it might be from the scratch mittens, but NOW I see it in his toes too. It's in between and looks like shreds of cotton wool or wool and it's usually white gray or blackish in color. I give him a bath everyday and still i see it later. Is this fungus? what can it be? Also i clip his nails but still there is dirt in it, I try to wash it with a wash cloth during his bath and i even tried to use that hook thing that they have in nail clippers but got scared and didn't do it. I tried soaking his hands in clean water today for like a couple minutes but the dirt is still there. What do i do? How do i get rid of the dirt in his nails and what is that thing in between his fingers?

This happens to all babies. My son gets a bath every night and I keep his nails trimmed short. The only time I ever used the scratch mittens was when he was a newborn, but if I let his nails get too long, he also gets dirt under his nails by bath time every night. The stuff between his fingers and toes is normal as well. At 2 months they're playing and exploring more, eating their hands, grabbing at things. Unless you keep an absolutely sterile house and change his clothes every 5 minutes, he WILL get dirt in between his fingers and toes and under his nails.

When you give him a bath, wash his hands and feet thoroughly, making sure to get between his fingers and toes, the flat part of his feet and the palms of his hands. Try keeping his nails trimmed short. I have to trim his nails at least once every 10 days or so.

It's not fungus, it's just your baby growing up and exploring more :o )
